K-DRON Puzzle - Geometric Shape - Brainteaser
We were thrilled to meet Janusz Kapusta, the founder of the K-Dron at a Toy and Gift Trade Show in 2011. And we knew we wanted to carry his wonderful invention, a complex yet portable puzzle.
This K-Dron 3-D Puzzle is a fun, challenging portable game that offers multiple-challenge levels.
K-Dron consists of eight eleven-sided pieces that when fitted correctly together form a block approximately 1/4" x 2" that is packed into a nifty plastic travel case (2.4"x2.5")
The object of the game is to design or reproduce various patterns (see photos).
This versatile family friendly game has three levels of difficulty. With only 4 K-Drons of one color and 4 of another color, you can discover more than 38,000 possible combinations! It is like a modern tangram in three dimensions. For ages five and up. Instructions included.
Also includes playing instructions for K-Chess: The pieces can also be used as a mini chess set. K-Chess operates on the same rules as Chess, but with a novel twist. K-Drons serve as five different chess pieces in the board game, transforming themselves into new chessmen with every move and every taken K-Dron. From the lowly pawn to the sought after castle, K-Chess is a game of strategy, smarts and memory.
Some interesting information about the Kdron shape:
In 1985 Polish artist and mathematician Janusz Kapusta discovered a new geometrical shape - an eleven faced polyhedron, which he called the K-dron.
K-dron's name is derived from the letter "K", which represents the 11th letter of the alphabet, and "dron" from the Greek word "hedron", which means surface.
