Wood's Vermont Maple Syrup - Bourbon and Rum

Wood's Vermont Maple Syrup - Bourbon and Rum
It’s hard to know which of these barrel-aged syrup I like better. The inviting rum? The elegant bourbon?
Nothing is added to these spectacular syrups - it’s just one ingredient, pure Vermont maple syrup, aged for several months in bourbon barrels or in rum barrels.
I use them to substitute for honey, molasses and corn syrup in any recipe. It classes things up quite a bit.
Each glass jug contains 8.5 ounces of pure Vermont maple syrup, barrel aged.
Bourbon: Freshly emptied bourbon barrels are filled with Wood’s maple syrup hot off the evaporator and then aged for several months. Just like aged whiskey, barrel-aged maple takes time and care to make. Handcrafted Vermont Maple Syrup and a trace of bourbon from the barrel it was aged in.*
Rum: This golden treasure boasts flavors of vanilla and butterscotch. Wood’s ages their traditional maple syrup inside freshly emptied rum* barrels for several months. There it soaks up the the essence of the barrel.
Ingredients: work-ethic, homemade Vermont maple syrup, and real rum barrels.
*While aging in bourbon barrels, the syrup draws in the essential flavors of the charred barrel, but takes in no more than 1% alcohol content, which keeps the syrup family friendly.

We met the exuberant Al Wood (pictured at right) at a New England Made tade show back in 2015. We loved his good energy and his quality maple syrup, something that has been part of his family’s tradition since 1920. We carry several of Wood’s varieties, and they are each distinct and flavorful, although none of the flavors overshadow the good rich syrup that is the base of his excellent products. We have seen other good New England syrup companies take on flavorings over the years, but none has the heart and soul we have come to expect when Wood’s is on the label.
